Dolphin and Whale spotting on Waiheke Island

This photo was taken today at 8am and shows a pod of 4 dolphins (including one pup) hunting less than 30m from the shore at low tide.

Dolphins of several varieties are a common sight around Waiheke Island. Often seen close to shore on the islands most popular beaches, the best time of day is close to dusk and dawn.

Whales (including Orca) are often seen at various beaches during their migrations.

Ask Waiheke Island Guesthouse for more information on when and where to spot your favourite sea mammals.

TIP: Keep a sharp look out during your ferry ride!
